NORMAL – Due to the possibility of low temperatures and snowfall, the 7th Annual Sharin’ of the Green St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be postponed until March 18 at 1 p.m.
A potential for low attendance and possible hazardous road conditions on Saturday caused Parade planners at the McLean County Irish Heritage Society, Easterseals of McLean County and Cumulus Radio to consult with Town of Normal officials on the decision.
Parade organizer Neil Finlen of the McLean County Irish Heritage Society reflected, “We’ve been so lucky the first seven years with the weather. This was bound to happen sometime. Let’s just say the leprechaun missed his spring break flight back north from Florida.”
Parade participants and spectators are encouraged to come Share Some Green with Easterseals on March 18th. Donations for participants that have already been submitted are eligible for refund but can also be generously left with Easterseals to continue their mission. Parade tshirts are available at the Easterseals front desk at 2404 East Empire Street in Bloomington.
