BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Department of Transportation crews will begin work next week on resurfacing a three-mile stretch of Veterans Parkway in Bloomington.
The state route from Hamilton Road and Fox Creek Road to Bunn Street is expected to take seven months, weather permitting.

“Veterans (Parkway) has to take on all the heavy trucks,” city manager David Hales said. “This is a major truck route, so it had to be built to withstand the heaviest motor vehicle traffic and the average daily traffic flow is just tremendous.”
IDOT estimates that stretch of Veterans Parkway sees more than 20,000 vehicles per day. The work will include patching, milling, resurfacing and safety upgrades.
Rowe Construction of Bloomington is contractor for the $4.7 million project.
