BLOOMINGTON – A new survey from Country Financial shows a fear of being unable to afford healthcare in Illinois residents.

The survey results shows 44 percent of respondents cited healthcare expenses as a major financial concern. Country Financial representative Matt Potts explained there is also a fear of unexpected expenses in a number of Illinois residents.

“A lot of Americans are very concerned about healthcare costs rising and also those unexpected expenses,” Potts said. “You know, no one wants destruction in their house and that’s what their mainly concerned about.”

Regarding those fears, the survey illustrated that Millennials and GenXers are primarily concerned with the unexpected expenses while Baby Boomers are more concerned with the cost of healthcare. Potts explained this is due to Millennials and GenXers having little in terms of savings.

“A lot of that generation doesn’t have that emergency funds sitting around in case the furnace breaks or something like that,” said Potts. “Whereas the Baby Boomers are much more concerned about healthcare…that’s their biggest concern, the cost of healthcare rising.”

The results of the survey also showed there is a fear of parents being unable to afford their child’s education.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
