WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, said he was angered by the video of a United Airlines passenger being forcibly dragged off a plane at O’Hare International Airport this week and he wants answers.
PODCAST: Listen to Scott and Patti’s interview with Davis on WJBC.
“Who has the authority at that airport by that plane to pick up the phone and call security and say ‘We need to forcibly remove four paying passengers who have decided not to take our low offer of vouchers’ and put four crew members on this plane?” Davis asked.
Davis and U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski, D-Chicago, has sent a letter to the United States Department of Transportation asking whether any federal laws or regulations were violated.
Nearly two dozen Democratic lawmakers, including Illinois’ U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth have sent a letter to United’s CEO Oscar Munoz to explain its policy of overselling flights.
Syria
Davis said the U.S. air strikes against Syria last week were long overdue, but he told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin and Patti Penn, President Donald Trump went too far in suggesting the U.S. would not consider going to war against the Assad regime.
“I wish the president would not have taken any options of the table,” Davis said. “I think that should be up to our military strategists.”
Davis later said the president could just be playing ‘mind games’ with Syria.
During the campaign, Trump had said the U.S. should stay out of Syria, but Davis said president’s often change foreign policy views once they start getting intelligence reports.
