NORMAL – Robert Lee Raber, 79 of Normal, Illinois, passed away on April 11, 2017 at 7:41 a.m. at Evergreen Place, Normal.

Robert’s service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11am at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Following services burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington with military rites conducted by the Bloomington/Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 9-11am on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Home Sweet Home Ministries, 303 E. Oakland Avenue, Bloomington, Illinois 61701.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born on April 11, 1938 in Browns, Illinois, the son of Carl and Burl Raber.

He is survived by his son Randy Raber of Normal, Randy’s mom Beverly Raber of Normal and 1 sister of Florida.

Robert is preceded by his parents and one son: Robin Raber.

Robert served as a Seabee in the US Navy from 1955-1960, he worked as a Lending Officer for National Bank of Bloomington and First National Bank of Normal for 18 years and also worked as a District Sales Manager for the Pantagraph for 12 years.

Robert was an avid reader, golfer and bird watcher in which he enjoyed spending time with his son Randy cataloging the different birds in the area. He was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan, Chicago Bears and Bulls fan.
