SPRINGFIELD – Tax day is normally April 15 but this year you have a few more days to file.

The deadline to file you income tax returns this year is April 18. Terry Horstman, spokesman with the Illinois Department of Revenue said if you are waiting to file you aren’t alone.

“An estimated two million Illinois tax returns have yet to be filed before April 18,” Horstman said. “We remind individuals who have not filed, www.mytaxillinois.gov is the Department of Revenue’s free online account management program and we are accepting individual income tax returns.”

The state continues to see folks who do file do so electronically. Almost nine in 10 are sent in that way. Horstman said the wait to get your refund is running about month.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
