PONTIAC – Gerald E. Campbell, 82, rural Pontiac, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Pastor Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery, rural Chenoa with full military rites accorded by the Chenoa VFW.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the memorial home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Mr. Campbell was born May 5, 1934 in Pontiac, the son of Lester Dalton and Alice Amanda “Billie” Venson Campbell. He married Sharon Busker in 1963 in Bloomington. He then married Janice Johnson Ripley on February 16, 1990 in Pontiac. She survives in Pontiac.
Other survivors include his children, Tyree (Leslie) Campbell, Bloomington; Tracie (Michael) Harp, Tuscola; Brett Campbell, Chenoa; Amanda Paige Tharge, El Paso; stepchildren, Gerald (Beth) Ripley, Chenoa; David Ripley, Oak Park; Ann (Rick) Householder, Chenoa; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren; and one sister, Vickie (Mose) Mowery, Chenoa.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was a 1952 graduate of Chenoa High School. He served in the US Army and was a lifetime NRA member.
