BLOOMINGTON – Friends of murder victim Pamela Zimmerman will be allowed to testify that she feared for her safety while divorcing Kirk Zimmerman in 2012.
McLean County Judge Scott Drazewski will let the jury hear from Suzie and Bob Rogers, who waited four-years to tell police they talked with Mrs. Zimmerman at a softball game.
Their conversation, according to the Rogers, was whether Kirk would “snap.” “Don’t you think I already know that? I live with him,” Pamela Zimmerman reportedly told the couple.
Two-years later, Pamela Zimmerman was found dead in her office on East Washington Street, with multiple gunshot wounds. When questioned by Kirk Zimmerman’s lawyer, the couple admitted they didn’t share their story with investigators until earlier this year.
The judge is presiding over four days of pre-trial hearings. Drazewski has yet to decide whether the murder victim’s divorce attorney can testify that she immediately suspected Kirk Zimmerman as the killer. The defense argued lawyer Kathleen Kraft was not involved in any conversations about Pamela Zimmerman’s safety, so her testimony is not relevant to the murder charge.
