David Wollenberg
David L. Wollenberg, 77, of Normal, passed away at 12:40 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
A funeral Mass in David’s memory will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington with Monsignor Douglas Hennessy officiating. Entombment will be in East Lawn Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
Dave was born December 21, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Harry “Bud” and Clara May Wagner Hall. Dave’s father died in WWII and he was raised by Wayne Wollenberg.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Woodward Wollenberg of Normal; six children, David Wollenberg, Jr. of Mt. Victory, Ohio, Diana (Kip) Wilson of Cave Creek, AZ, Denise (Todd) Ferguson of Roswell, Ga., Dan (Nancy) Wollenberg of Delaware, Ohio, Doug Wollenberg of Normal and
Dana (Darren) Kessinger of Bloomington; a son-in-law, Doug Zook of Normal; 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Wollenberg of Baltimore, Ohio and Denis (Melody) Wollenberg of Heath, OH; and one sister, Joyce Smeigh of Heath, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Debbie Zook on March 21, 2016.
Dave graduated from St. Charles Prep and attended The Ohio State University, both in Columbus, Ohio. He enjoyed a successful career as a database administrator with the State of Ohio and the Eureka Company.
Dave enjoyed golf and travel, took great pride in his yard and attending his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. However his top priority was always spending time with family.
