BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Police have captured a shooting suspect apparently with a long criminal record after a lengthy foot chase Friday afternoon.
28-year old Fredd Mitchell is suspected of shooting a man in the six-hundred block of North Main Street about two o’clock Mother’s Day morning. The 34-year old victim was treated at a local hospital for gunshot wounds to both legs, but he was released.
Police said they found Mitchell just west of Veterans Parkway. Officers chased him across the busy roadway and eventually took him into custody in back of a grocery store.
Police said Mitchell did not have a weapon at the time of his arrest.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting. Mitchell faces charges including aggravated discharge of a firearm in a public place, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and he’s been deemed an armed habitual criminal.
