IDOT announces pavement patching on Illinois Route 9

BLOOMINGTON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces work is scheduled to begin June 5, weather permitting, for pavement patching on Illinois 9 on the west side of Bloomington from Mitsubishi Motorway to Interstate 55/74.

The work is expected to be completed June 30. The contactor for this $220,000 project is G.M. Sipes Construction.

Motorists should allow extra time for trips through this area.

Road closures

Funks Grove Road, which is also CH 36 or 550 NOrth Road, between 800 East and 900 East roads, will be closed through Friday to through traffic, waether permitting, for repairs to the Funks Grove bridge just east of Old U.S. Route 66.

Ellsworth Road, which is also CH 17 or 2850 East Road, between the Holder Ellsworth Road, which is also CH 28 or 1200 North Road and 1100 north Road, will be closed to through traffic starting June 5-16, weather permitting, for culvert replacement in this area. Access to the Village of Ellsworth will be maintaned during construction.

The Bloomington Water Department will be making an emergency water service repair in the 1200 block of West Locust Street. Due to the location of the water service repair, West Locust Street between Morris Avenue and Western Avenue will be closed to through traffic. The road closure is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, June 1 and should be reopened by 3:30 p.m. A detour will be set up to take traffic from Locust Street to Chestnut Street. Anyone with questions shoudl call the Bloomington Water Department at (309) 434-2426.

Effective immediately, East Taylor between Denver and State streets will be closed to through traffic for sewer repairs. the srreet will be closed until the work is complete. Drivers should find alternate routes. For questions, contact Bloomington Public Works at (309) 434-2225.
