Mark Bryan Aberle, 66, of Chatsworth passed away at 11:58 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at his residence in Chatsworth.

His funeral will be 10 am, Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Church of Forrest with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in North Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Forrest.

Visitation will be 2 to 6 pm, Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury; and 9 to 9:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community – Serenity Villa, Fairbury.

Mark was born October 27, 1950 in Fairbury; the son of William and Jean (Zimmerman) Aberle. He married LaVerne Martin on May 14, 1977 in Chatsworth. His wife survives in Chatsworth.

Also surviving are his children, James (Kara) Aberle and Susan (Keith) Huber both of Fairbury; Shane (Sarah) Aberle of Mahomet; Shawn (Tami) Aberle of Forrest; Bryan (Lisa) Aberle and Marcus (Katie Fehr) Aberle both of Chatsworth; Ashley Aberle of McAllen, TX; Kevin Aberle of Chatsworth; two sisters, MaryJo (Mark) Rieger of Mahomet; and Dawn (Randy) Steidinger of Forrest; and 21 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Doug Aberle.

Mark served our country in the US Army during Vietnam. He was employed by Nussbaum Plumbing and Heating Inc. and Steidinger Bro’s Inc., Fairbury and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Forrest.

Patrick O’Gara

Patrick J. O’Gara, 74, of Normal, passed away at 1:34 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

A Celebration of Patrick’s Life will be scheduled in a few weeks. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Patrick was born January 7, 1943 in Chicago, the son of Daniel and Gladys Whitelaw O’Gara.

Survivors include a sister, Gail (Sonny) Mirsky of Huntley; four nieces, Kate Mirsky, Colleen (Jeff) Jackson, Kelly (Kathy) Mirsky and Beth (Dave) Carlson, and a nephew, Tom (Linda) Rood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Roberta Rood and a brother, Daniel O’Gara.

Active in the Chicago Theater for many years, Patrick taught theater at Columbia University and was involved in both the Jefferson Committee and Old Town Community Theater. Most recently he was Professor of Theater at Illinois State University for nearly 30 years.

Shirley Porter

Shirley Ann Porter, 76 of Bloomington, Ill., passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 12:42am at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Shirley’s memorial service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington with Dave O’Neall officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Shirley.

Shirley was born on October 25, 1940 in Vandalia, Ill., the daughter of Harvey and Lorene McClary. She married Wilbert Porter and later married Tommy Pruitt. Both preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children; David (Laura) w. Porter of Cooksville and Christy (Lucien) Jackson of Bloomington, grandchildren; MaryAnn (Ryan), AnnMarie, David and Madison, great grandchildren; Dalton, Kiara, Corbin and Morgan and her sister; Kathleen McClary of Bloomington.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother; Mike McClary.

Shirley loved playing bingo, her dog JJ and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
