PONTIAC – The top high school basketball players in Illinois will converge on Pontiac this Saturday for the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star games.
“You’ve got athletes up and down the highway that are really solid and true all-staters coming to Pontiac,” Mark Myre of the IBCA Board of Directors said.
There will be four games at Pontiac High School starting with the small school girls at noon, the large school girls at 2 p.m. The 1A and 2A boys take the floor at 4 p.m, then the 3A and 4A boys play at 6 p.m.
Ridgeview’s Tyler McCormick and University High’s Raven Hughes will be the two McLean County representative.
Myre said the event is a major draw for Pontiac.
“Anytime you get the best in the state, it’s absolutely huge,” Myre said. “Pontiac High School really puts a Rolls Royce, first-class showing on.”
The annual event was moved to Pontiac High School from Illinois Wesleyan’s Shirk Center in 2015.
