CornBelters send 4 to Frontier League All-Star Game

NORMAL – The CornBelters will be represented by four players in next week’s Frontier League All-Star Game.

The two most veteran CornBelters will be in the starting lineup for the West Division squad, first baseman Aaron Dudley and shortstop Santiago Chirino.

Dudley is currently second in the league with a .369 batting average, third with a .480 on-base percentage and leads the circuit with 18 doubles.

Chirino is second in the league with 64 hits and fourth in hitting with a .344 average.

CornBelters catcher Craig Lepre (luh-PREE) and reliever Shawn Blackwell were also named to the West squad. Lepre leads the league in walks with 41 and is fourth with a .471 on-base percentage. Blackwell is the Belters closer and leads the staff with 20 appearances and six saves.

The Frontier League All-Star Game will be held Wednesday, July 12 in Joliet.
