BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Edge has announced a two-year contract extension for general manager Charles Welde.
Welde assumed operational control of the Edge on Feb. 1, shortly before the opening of the 2017 season. With his inaugural season behind him, he reached an agreement with Edge CEO, Dr. Omar Khokhar, to continue leading the organization.
“Coming to an agreement was very easy as the Khokhars and I have extremely similar philosophies on how to run a professional sports organization,” said Welde. “From the top down, this organization believes in family and community first which is the same mentality I’ve used throughout my career.”
“Charles is exactly what we are looking for in a G.M,” commented Dr. Khokhar. “He proved himself in his first season with us, and we are excited to have him managing the organization moving forward.”
Welde said this offseason the Edge is focused on growing their season ticket base, creating partnerships with local businesses, and strengthening their commitment to the Bloomington-Normal community.
“In the coming weeks, you can expect to read about strategic partnerships between the Edge and other community organizations as we look to create a positive synergy in the Bloomington-Normal area,” Welde added.
The 2018 schedule will be released at a later date.
