Carroll BesGrove
Carroll Eugene BesGrove, 88, Fairbury, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his residence surrounded by family.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Sharon Monroe officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury with full military rites accorded by the Fairbury VFW.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday also at the memorial home. The family suggests memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury.
Mr. BesGrove was born December 16, 1928 in Fairbury, the son of Roy Earl and Mabel Brown Besgrove. He married Mary Lou Logan on November 26, 1953 at the Grace United Methodist Church, Decatur, Ill. She survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include their children, Greg (Joni) Besgrove, Fairbury; Melody (Joe) Clower, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; Lisa (Jeff) Turchi, Hartford, Wisc.; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Mr. BesGrove received his bachelor of science degree from Millikin University, Decatur. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan (1946-1948). He was employed at Block and Kuhl Men’s store, Peoria (1953-1956) and later farmed in the Fairbury area (1956-2000).
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Tarbolton Masonic Lodge 351 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Fairbury.
