Evelyn Hartman
Evelyn L. Dean Hartman, 84 of Bloomington, Ill., passed away on July 31, 2017 at 11:30 p.m. at Meadows Mennonite Nursing Home, Chenoa.
Evelyn’s graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery, Carterville, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Crainville Baptist Church, 806 Marion Street, Carterville, Ill. 62918.

Evelyn was born on February 27, 1933 in Crainville, Ill. the daughter of Ryburn A. and Mae (Harper) Alexander. She married Rev. Willet R. Dean on September 6, 1952 in Crainville, Ill., he passed away on March 24, 1965. She later married Rev. Charles K. Hartman on December 26, 1966 in Centralia, Ill., he passed away February 4, 2012.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Marcia Dean of Normal, Melinda (Kenneth) Buscher of Camdenton, Mo. and Monica (Barry) Moore of Mansfield, Texas; grandchildren, Alexander (Amy), Mark, Matthew, Jackson, Rachel, Hannah and Michael and her brother, Richard (Suzette) Alexander of Carterville.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
Evelyn graduated from Southern Illinois University with her Bachelors Degree in Teaching and received her Masters Degree from Illinois State University. She taught in District 87 in Bloomington for 30-plus years, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the Crainville Baptist Church, Secret Angels Stitchers and the Pet Therapy at Mennonite Hospital. Evelyn enjoyed embroidery, sewing and knitting prayer shawls.
Evelyn was a wonderful grandmother and was completely devoted to her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all her family.

Doris Simpsen
Doris W. Simpsen, 97, of Bloomington formerly of Arrowsmith died at 11:45 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Heritage Manor Care, Bloomington.
Her funeral service will be 11 am, Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor with Pastor Edward Hudelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Anchor.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor.
Doris was born on January 22, 1920 in Gibson City, the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Hutchcraft) Johnson. She married Raymond E. Simpsen on August 24, 1940 in Anchor. He passed away April 28, 1988. Her parents, one sister, one brother, two sons, Dennis and Gary Simpsen, and one grandson, Damon Simpsen also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane (Gerald) Beauchamp of LeRoy; six grandchildren, Eric (Tammy) Simpsen of Normal; Michael Simpsen of Colfax; Darren (Cheryl) Beauchamp of LeRoy; Denise (John) Garee of LeRoy; Brian Simpsen of Anchor; Ashley Simpsen of Farmer City; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Simpsen was employed as a LPN at Gibson Area Hospital for over 20 years and also helped her husband farm in the Saybrook area. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor and was confirmed there in 1945. Doris loved her family who will miss her deeply.
