SRINGFIELD – Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is urging the public to be careful when purchasing solar glasses for Monday’s eclipse.

Madigan said fake glasses have flooded the market, and many have already been recalled.

“We want people to be aware you actually have to make sure the glasses you have purchased have met the safety standards,” Madigan said.

You can do that by checking the website www.eclipse.aas.org for a list of approved manufacturers and dealers.

“It’s very tough and even some of the one that are being sold are being mislabeled so please get them beforehand. They are becoming scare and are becoming very expensive.”

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
