BLOOMINGTON – Old Team, New name– the Bloomington Thunder is now known as the Central Illinois Flying Aces.

The team’s chief operating officer Brendan Kelly says the rebranding “unites our area as one large hockey community.”

This is the team’s fourth season in the USHL and one of many changes. Home ice is now called Grossinger Motors Arena, after the car dealer purchased the naming rights.

A new coach is also taking over, former NHL player Mike Watt.

The franchise plans to unveil its new identity….logos, color scheme, jerseys and website…at a news conference next week.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
