AG Madigan suing mobile park for unsafe water supply

CHICAGO– Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed a suit against Country Lane Mobile Park in Heyworth, Illinois over bacterial contamination of the public water supply.

A preliminary injunction was also entered, which requires the park owner to provide their residents with safe drinking water  and bottled water until the public supply is addressed. Based on the order, this will lead to investigating the source of the contamination.

Madigan’s complaint notes that the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency first cited the park owner in June after those samples tested positive for coliform bacteria. Further testing in August led investigators to finding positive samples of E. coli.

Residents have since been advised to use only boiled or bottled water for consumption and food preparation.
