Titans’ offense finds consistency in win over Nebraska Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan scored touchdowns on six consecutive possessions as the No. 14-ranked Titans rolled to a 42-21 win over Nebraska Wesleyan  on Saturday at Tucci Stadium.

Brandon Bauer completed 15 of 21 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Andrew Apel on a 6-yard pass to give IWU a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter.

Morgan Aexander rushed for 124 yards on 12 carries, including a 34-run TD run in the third quarter and he ran through a big hole up the middle and split two safeties before crashing into the end zone.

Bauer’s 10-yard TD pass to Liam Keffer put IWU up 42-7 late in the third quarter before the Titans replaced most of their starters.

Jonathan Curti passed for 461 yards for the Prairie Wolves on 32 of 65 attempts with one touchdown and one interception. The 65 attempts are a visiting team Tucci Stadium record.

The Titans (2-0) open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin at No. 6 North Central on Sept. 16.
