SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced lane closures for U.S. 24 near El Paso beginning Monday, Oct. 2.
The closures are needed for roadway improvements on U.S. 24 from one mile east of El Paso to 2.5 miles east of El Paso. At least one lane will remain open in each direction during the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
