Uptown road closures planned in Normal due to Oktoberfest

NORMAL – Medici, the Normal Rotary Club and Uptown Partners will be presenting the 2nd annual Medici Oktoberfest on Saturday from 4-10 p.m.

The event will take place on North Street in Uptown Normal and will feature Oktoberfest brews, authentic German fare, and live entertainment by Lindenhof Echoes, Peoria Volkstaenzer and The Natural Talent Polka.

This fundraising event offers attendees a chance to celebrate the season while helping the Normal Rotary Club raise funds for Coats for Kids. A $5 suggested donation will be collected at the gate, and donors will receive a commemorative mug while supplies last.

To accommodate this event, the following roads will be marked as ‘No Parking’ at 10 a.m. and closed at noon on Saturday: Uptown Circle from Constitution Blvd. to Beaufort Street, North Street from Uptown Circle to Broadway Avenue and Broadway from College Avenue to Beaufort.

Free parking will be available in the College Ave. parking deck.

Hovey Avenue to close

The east side of the intersection of Hovey Avenue and Hester Avenue will be closed for repaving unitl 3 p.m. Friday.  Local traffic may use Fell Avenue to access Hovey east of the closure.
