NORMAL – Beginning Monday, ‘Stop for Pedestrian’ signs will be installed along Constitution Trail crossings in the Town of Normal.

The Illinois Vehicle code dictates that drivers must stop for pedestrians who are in the crosswalk towards the driver’s side of the road.

It also says pedestrians not ‘suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety’ either walking or running into the path of a moving vehicle.

Normal City Manager Mark Peterson said the emphasis is on keeping pedestrians and drivers safe.

The signs will be seen at Constitution Trail at Locust, Willow, Lincoln, Shelbourne, and Raab.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
