Ronald Wayne Barnard, 79, Tuscola and formerly of Pontiac, Ill. died at 9:18 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Ill.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-12:30 pm Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, Ill. The family suggests memorials be given to the charity of their choice.

Mr. Barnard was born Sept. 26, 1938 in Rockford the son of Theron Ray and Creola M. Bradshaw Barnard. He first married Shirley Murray. She precedes him in death. He then married Janie Siegmund on Oct. 22, 1989 in Fairbury. She survives in Tuscola.

Other survivors include a step daughter, Lori (Dennis) Butler, Tolono; Christopher (Helen) Siegmund, Stockholm, Sweden; seven step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; five brothers, Richard, Louis, Dale, David, and Gary Barnard and three sisters, Phyllis Bohm; Carol Tucker, and Susan Scott.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and a step daughter.

Mr. Barnard worked for Pontiac Chair Factory (30 years); Pinkerton Security at Caterpillar Inc., Pontiac, (20 years) and U.S. Security for Kraft Foods, Champaign, Ill.

He was an avid golfer and was a 50-year member of the Pontiac Elks Club. His favorite sport teams included the Chicago Cubs, Bears and the Fighting Illini. He loved animals and birds.

Thomas Henry Bertrand, 80, of Normal, Ill., passed away at 4:26 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at his home.

His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at Historic St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Bloomington, Ill., with Rev. Jeffrey Stirniman and Monsignor Douglas Hennessy concelebrating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville, Ill. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with a rosary service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Choir or the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Holy Trinity Church.

Tom was born January 17, 1937 in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Victor E. and Winifred Bertrand. He married Maria F. Gehl. She survives.

He is also survived by his beloved children, Edward (Yuka), Andrew (Rita), Mary Frances (John), Paul M.D. (Angela), Monica (Marc), Rita Rose (Ryan), John Pierre (Gina), Elizabeth Ann (Keith), Maria Patricia (Bob) and Teresa.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, W. James Bertrand in infancy, his parents, a brother, Rev. Victor E. Bertrand, CSV 2010 and two son, John Thomas and Bernard James.

Tom was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Historic St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, both in Bloomington. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed being a Knight and serving in the Honor Guard.

Tom loved his Lord, his church, his family and his country. He went to the Officer Candidate School, NAVSTA, Newport, R.I. and served as a Navy Officer for eight years, receiving the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal, both for his service in the Cold War in Berlin.

Tom loved to sing, had a big heart, was a loving husband, kind to everyone and loved children. He will be greatly missed by all who were a part of his life. He had a warm heart and was a helpful soul. Tom will remain forever the Guardian Angel and heartlight of his wife and soulmate of many years.

John Franklin “Frank” Roberts, 83, of Pontiac, Ill. passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9. 2017 at Accolade Healthcare Center, Pontiac.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac. Visitation will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Entombment will follow services at Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Pontiac, where military rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Cancer Fund.

Frank was born April 14, 1934 and raised in Pontiac, Ill. a son of Edwin and Mattie (Rich) Roberts. He married Jacqulyn “Jackie” Roberts on June 17, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac. She passed away on Oct. 1, 2012. He is survived by two sons: Ricky Joe (Joyce) Roberts of Texas, and Ronald Allen (Tami) Roberts of Pontiac; one daughter-in-law: Kathy Roberts of Pontiac; eight grandsons: Bradley, Brian, Kevin, Ryan, John, Jake, Chris, and Craig Roberts; one great granddaughter: Katie Lynn; two great grandsons: Jackson Lee and Spencer Jackson; one sister: Deloris Wiechmann of Flanagan, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son: Randy Lee Roberts; and his siblings: Gene Roberts, Dick Roberts, and Mary Lou Hedrick.

Frank served our country in the United States Army stationed over in Europe in the 1950s. He was a member of the Pontiac American Legion and the VFW. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac.

He liked to keep people on their toes, always having something clever to say. Frank was a loving dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed. His ornery smile will not be forgotten.
