BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Police are reminding drivers to lock their doors as they respond to a rash of vehicle burglaries on the southeast part of the city.

The city reported eight car burglary attempts since Sunday night just west of Streid Drive north of Ireland Grove Road. Police said the majority of the burglaries are occurring in the overnight hours and targeting unlocked cars.

Police also remind drivers to roll up the windows, remove valuables from your vehicle or don’t leave them in plain sight, don’t leave your keys in your vehicle, don’t leave garage door openers in plain view and close your garage door and lock the interior door to your home.

BPD asks if you observe any suspicious activity, person(s), or have any video surveillance of these incidents, call the non-emergency number for the Bloomington Police Department at (309) 820-8888 or call 911 for any immediate public safety threats.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
