SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner is being sued by a former business partner and his legal team is doing all it can to keep the details of the lawsuit under wraps.

Rauner said he knows little about the legal proceedings and isn’t behind trying to keep the details private.

“To be clear, all my assets all my investments all in a trust I don’t control. I did that when I became governor,” Rauner said. “I can’t comment on any business disputes. That gets settled in its own process.”

Rauner’s lawyers are also seeking to dismiss the case. The former business partner Harreld “Kip” Kirkpatrick says the crux of the lawsuit predates Rauner taking office as governor.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
