Helen Benson

Helen A. Benson, 86 of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at her home.

Helen’s service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington with Pastor Tyler Hari officiating. Following the service burial will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Eastview Christian Church.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born on Oct. 29, 1930 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She is the daughter of Tallie and Elizabeth (Buck) Wall.

She is survived by her children; Trudy (Quinton) Koch of Bloomington, Michael (Susan) Benson of Inwood, West Virginia and Nancy Johnson of Bloomington along with seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her brother and sisters; Don Curry and Shirley Schomidie both of Illinois and Mary Beth Curry of California. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, one son, a daughter-in-law, one brother and one sister.

Helen was a member of Eastview Christian Church of Normal and worked as an assistant to the Librarian at the Library Book Selection Service of Bloomington for 30+ years. She was an avid reader and she loved sewing and art in which she enjoyed teaching and passing down her knowledge and talent of art to her grandchildren. Most of all she truly enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all of them, but they know with her unending faith in God she is with her Lord and Savior in heaven.
