Mulberry St. closure extended

NORMAL – Mulberry St. between Linden St. and Constitution Blvd. will continue to be closed through Friday November 10, 2017 (will open sooner if the work is completed early).

Circumstances beyond the control of the Town have caused this road closure to be extended to accomplish repair and replacement of a telecommunications utility located in Mulberry Street. This service was damaged during earlier work.

It is anticipated that the street can be reopened during the week ending November10.

Until the work is completed, a suggested detour route is:

  • North on Linden St.,
  • Then west on Willow St.,
  • Then south on Fell Ave. and back to Mulberry St.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
