BLOOMINGTON – Saturday is Veterans Day, but Governor Rauner and state lawmakers marked the occasion today because the General Assembly was in town for the fall veto session.
Bloomington’s Bill Brady, the Senate Minority Leader, was one of the speakers at a ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda.
“Abraham Lincoln once said ‘a nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure’. That’s why it’s so important that this weekend, and every year, we honor the men and women who served our country,” said Brady.
In his remarks, Brady noted that children who were in pre-school when the September 11th attacks happened are now serving in the armed forces.
