Joanna Delaney, 81, of Forrest, Ill. passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at her home in Forrest with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Fairbury with Rev. Daryl Evans officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at church. Burial will follow services at Strawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Compassus Hospice, or Forrest American Legion Auxiliary.

Joanna was born June 27, 1936 in Mattoon, Ill. a daughter of Henry and Ruth (Groves) Lawhorn. She married Joseph R. Delaney, Sr. on Nov. 15, 1954 in Norfolk, Va.. She and Joseph would have celebrated 63 years of happily married life this Wednesday. He survives.

Also surviving are her children: Joseph R. (Donna) Delaney, Jr. of Fairbury, Ill., Debra (David) Artman of Bloomington, Ill., and Teresa Lynn (Mark) Bertram of Urbana, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; she was the last surviving sibling of nine children, three of which preceded her in death just this year.

She was educated in the Mattoon schools. Joanna served as a classroom aide and secretary at Strawn Elementary and Prairie Central School District for 30 years. She was a member of the Forrest American Legion Auxiliary.

Joanna loved to play bingo and “visit” the boat periodically. She loved to entertain her family and enjoyed the grandchildren and great grandchildren most of all. She was a good listener and friend to many. Her laughter and her desserts were a joy to the family. She leaves a void in our lives that will be very difficult to fill.

Hazel Reel

Hazel G. Reel, 96 of Bloomington, Ill., passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 11:09 a.m. at Heritage Health Care, Normal.

Her service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at noon at the Heyworth Christian Church, Heyworth, with Pastor Pete Hopkins officiating. Following the service burial will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m.-noon at the church.

The family has requested no flowers and that memorials can be made to the Heyworth Christian Church Building Fund.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel was born on October 7, 1921 in Carlock. She is the daughter of William Henry and Lula Bell (Mishler) Maxwell. She married Ernest Reel on June 1, 1940 in Burilington, Iowa.

Hazel is survived by her children; Virginia Greenburg of Normal, John (Karen) Reel of Benson, Ill., Mary Hunt of Seycor, James (Linda) Reel of El Paso and Peggy (Mike) Kellerhals of Bloomington. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Hazel was a member of the Heyworth Christian Church.
