BLOOMINGTON – Transfers Alex O’Neill and Zach Knobloch were among four Illinois Wesleyan players in double figures as the Titans cruised to a 90-68 season-opening win over Fontbonne at Shirk Center on Wednesday.

Colin Bonnett led the Titans with 13 points. O’Neill scored 12 and Knobloch added 10 for a balanced Wesleyan attack.

Jaylen Beasley added five points with a team-high nine rebounds.

The Griffins never threatended after pulling within 50-40 early in the second half before a pair of Nick Coleman threes put IWU back on control.

IWU connected on 18 of 19 free throws and outrebounded Fontbonne 49-36.

Wesleyan will host Alma at 7 p.m. Friday in the Illinois-Michigan Challenge at Shirk Center.
