Illinois Wesleyan basketball finishes Michigan sweep

BLOOMINGTON – Nick Coleman and Brady Rose led five Titans in double figures with 18 as Illinois Wesleyan defeated Calvin, 94-82, at Shirk Center on Saturday to sweep the Illinois-Michigan Challenge.

IWU (3-0) beat Alma on Friday.

The Titans nearly squandered a 16-point lead as the Knights reeled off 15 unanswered points to close to within 45-44 before Wesleyan reeled off a 7- 0 spurt to retake command.

Jaylen Beasley added 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, helping Wesleyan win the rebounding battle, 38-34.

Coleman hit five three-pointers as IWU connected on 15-31 from beyond the arc, one day after breaking a school record with 20 from deep.

The Titans travel to Memphis next weekend to play Millsaps on Nov. 25 and Rhodes on Nov. 26.
