Laymon Denham

Laymon Clinton Denham, 91, Pontiac and formerly of Fairbury, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Accolade Healthcare of Pontiac.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating.  Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday also at the memorial home.  The family suggests memorials be given to the First Baptist Church, Fairbury.

Clinton was born November 24, 1926 in Tompkinsville, KY the son of Leonard Guy and Mary Liza Humes Denham.  He married Dorothy Rice on April 29, 1951 in Fairbury.  She survives in Pontiac.

Other survivors include one daughter, Linda Denham, Pontiac; three grandchildren, Michelle (Justin) Besancon, Wauconda, IL; Eric (Missy) Hoover, Jennifer Hoover, both of Pontiac and five great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by two daughters, Lois Hoover, Karen Denham and two step brothers.

Clinton enjoyed camping and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fairbury.

Dorothy Schopp

Dorothy M. Schopp, 89 of Chenoa, died at 9:20 pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Hopedale Nursing Home, Hopedale.

Her funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chenoa with Father Carl LoPresti officiating. A private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in rural Chenoa.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. prior to the mass on Wednesday, also at the church in Chenoa. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schopp was born April 10, 1928 in El Paso, the daughter of Rufus and Maude (Pennington) Ellis. She married Richard E. “Gene” Schopp on May 8, 1948 in Chenoa. He passed away November 23, 2006. Her parents, 1 brother, 1 sister and 1 daughter, Mary Lou Schopp also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son; Bill Schopp of Chenoa; two daughters; Dorothy (Larry) Harms and Carol Ann (Michael) Howard both of Chenoa, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chenoa, IL.

Angela Schrof

Angela Klaudia Schrof, 72, of Forrest, IL passed away at 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Forrest. According to her wishes, cremation rites will follow visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL or the Livingston County Cancer Fund.

Angela was born January 7, 1945 in Bremen, Germany a daughter of Karl Heinz Petermann and Inge Petermann.

She graduated high school in 1961 in Germany and went on to Culinary Art School, Boppard Rhine Culinary Art School from 1961 to 1963. After graduating, Angela worked on a ship as a chef assistant from 1963-1964.

Angela also attended a trade school for an international buyer at one of the oldest unique clothing stores in Bremen, Germany.

She met the love of her life and was married on October 10, 1966 in Bremerhaven, Germany. They lived in Wing, IL from 1966 to 1969, then moved to Forrest. Angela started working at First State Bank of Forrest in 1975 and worked there until 2016. She also owned and operated La Boutique in Forrest.

Angela enjoyed spending time with our grandchildren.  She also cherished the friendships she made in her German Club. Some of her fondest memories were from traveling the world.  Angela touched many lives and left lasting impressions with everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband: Vernon Schrofof Bloomington; her sons: Brendon (Rebecca) Schrof of Bloomington and their children: Dakota Kelley, Kiley and Keric Schrof and Brian (Jennifer) Schrof of Normal, IL and their children: Mallory and Marley Schrof. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Angela was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Omi), sister-in-law, and friend who will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center and at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for the excellent care given to Angela during her time there.
