Redbird men’s basketball throttled by Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake made 15-of-30 shots from long range, including 8-of-16 in the second half, as the host Bulldogs ran away from the Illinois State Redbirds Wednesday evening.  The final score was 87-62,

How It Happened

Drake scored the first five points of the game, and led by six at 8-2 before the Redbirds started a comeback, scoring seven straight and taking a one-point lead on a Keyshawn Evans three-pointer with 14:23 to play in the half. The hosts responded with an 8-0 run, and never trailed again in the contest. The Illinois State first half deficit grew to as many as 14, when the Bulldogs converted on a lay-in with just over a minute left in the half, taking a 40-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Redbirds would only get as close as 12 in the second half, as Drake ran away with the 25-point victory.
