CHICAGO – Brady Roses hot-hand helped Illinois Wesleyan (12-3, 5-1) propel past North Park (4-10, 1-5) 76-75 in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game at North Park Gymnasium.
IWU established an early 29-20 lead over the Vikings of North Park, after a made field-goal from Rose with 7:02 left in the first half. The Titans established a 41-31 first half lead backed behind junior Colin Bonnetts 12 first half points and two steals.
Coming out of the locker room, the Vikings jumped to an early 8-2 run to start the second half backed behind Colin Lake, who scored 46 points. IWU sophomore Alex O’Neill helped the Titans down the stretch adding in 11 points, to give the Titans a 15-5 run late in the second half. The Titans lead 58-44 with 10:42 left in the second half, but IWU’s defense collapsed as the Vikings ended the game on a 14 point run, only to fall 76-75 on a missed three point attempt.
The Titans continue CCIW play on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Millikin at Shirk Center.
