BLOOMINGTON – Former Illinois State University football star turned pro, Colton Underwood, decided to surprise a Central Illinois girl who’s battling Cystic fibrosis with a special therapy vest.
Cystic fibrosis is a disease that causes persistent lung infections.
Lilly Stringer’s mother Andrea told our news partner WMBD-TV the vest will be more than helpful.
“It means more freedom,” said Lilly’s mother.
“She can move around with the vest and not have to sit in a chair for 30 minutes hooked up to our big vest, it’s very heavy, [and] she is at the age where she wants more independence.
Even sleepovers are going to be so much easier,” Mrs. Stringer said.
Underwood is raising money and awareness for Cystic fibrosis through his legacy foundation.
Underwood was a standout defensive end for the Redbirds. He graduated in 2014.
