Karen Sue Gudeman, 59 of Bloomington passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at her home.

A private family service will be held at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with Rev. Ralph Wingate officiating.

Karen was born on Sept. 13, 1958 in Ottawa to Doyle and Elizabeth McDermott Jelm. She married Marvin Gudeman June 17, 1983.

Karen is survived by her husband, Marvin; son Marcus (Jody Mickelson) Bloomington; son Brett (Brynn) Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; and very special grandson Brayden; her mother Betty, Somonauk, Ill.; and sister Cheryl, Ottawa, Ill..

She was preceded in death by her father and brother, David.

Karen was a 1976 graduate of Serena High School and she graduated in 1981 from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in music education. She was passionate about teaching music and her career included Cissna Park, Ill.; Benton County Community Schools, Ind.; and Surprise, Ariz. She touched the lives of her students so much so that they have kept in contact with her throughout the last 30 years.

Anyone who knew Karen will always remember her contagious laughter and that she was never without her lipstick. Above all, spending time with family was important to her and her door was always open.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Special Olympics Michigan, Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Mich., 48859 in Karen’s name.

Dale HannaDale Hanna

Dale Leslie Hanna, 78 of Chenoa, passed away at 12:40 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Heritage Manor, El Paso.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a Celebration of Dale’s life at 10 a.m., Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Pilgrim Holiness Church, 1409 South East St., Bloomington; with Pastor Martin Laramie officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Chatsworth Cemetery, Chatsworth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family of Dale L. Hanna, c/o Donna Hanna. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of services.

Dale was born Nov. 22, 1939 in Fairbury a son to William Leslie and Nettie Evon (Cording) Hanna. He married Celia Kuntz on April 9, 1960 in Chatsworth. She preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 1992. He later married Donna Norfleet on June 5, 1993. His wife Donna survives in Chenoa.

Other survivors include a sister, Carol (Jim) Kirkpatrick, Michigan; step-son, Donald (Debra) Norfleet, Ind.; Step-daughter, Deborah Ellis, Chenoa; seven step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

His parents; a brother, Donald; a sister, Sandra Mayer; his wife, Celia; and a son, Jess.

Dale was educated in Chatsworth schools. He owned and operated his plumbing and heating business. He was maintenance supervisor at Humiston Haven in Pontiac for many years. Then at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa. He also was in maintenance at Phillips 66, Chenoa.

Dale loved collecting figurines and built display cases. He loved Western movies and football games.
