NORMAL – Illinois State men’s basketball has signed junior college transfer Josh Jefferson to a letter of intent.
Jefferson is a 6-3 guard who played the last two seasons at Lake Land College. He averaged 22.8 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field, including 44.8 percent from three-point range during the past season.
As a sophomore, he reached double-figure scoring in all 24 games he played, including 15 times of 20 or more points, and five 30-point games.
Jefferson is from New Albany, Ind. and as a senior, led the town’s high school to its first state championship since 1973.
“We are excited to add Josh to our team,” said Redbird coach Dan Muller in a release. “Josh is a dynamic scoring guard with a great feel for the game. He had a terrific sophomore season this year at Lake Land College under Coach Colvin and Coach Earp, and we believe he is just scratching the surface. Josh adds another high-character student-athlete to our team, and I can’t wait to get him on campus.”
