BLOOMINGTON – The company that owns Bergner’s department stores has confirmed the chain will soon close.
Bon-Ton announed today Wednesday that a liquidation firm won the bid for the company during Tuesday’s auction overseen by a bankruptcy court, and that will conduct a “wind-down” of operations of Bon-Ton’s nearly 260 stores. The bankruptcy court is expected to approve the sale this week.
The company has not released a timeline of the closure of the Bergner’s stores, including the one in Bloomington’s Eastland Mall which has been open since 1973.
