Donna M. Walker, 83 of Normal, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 8:20 a.m. at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, Ill.

Donna’s service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington with Rev. Dr. Kent King-Nobles officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Trivoli Cemetery, Trivoli, Ill.

In accordance with Donna’s wishes the family has requested no flowers and that memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Normal or Advocate BroMenn Hospice.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donna was born on Dec. 25, 1934 in Trivoli to Berne and Louise Anderson Gronewold. She married George Ralph Walker on Sept. 8, 1954 in Farmington, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2018.

Donna is survived by her children, Michael (Mary) Walker, Normal and Bonne (Jim) Fraher, Pontiac; grandchildren, Tim (Lisa) Fraher, Bradenton, Fla.; Gia (Jon) Calderon, Chicago and Jennifer Walker, Peoria; great grandson Alexander Victor Calderon, Chicago; her sister, Mary (Dave) Severt of Rossville, Ind. and several nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Harold and Donald Gronewold.

Donna was a 1952 graduate of Farmington High School. She was a stay at home mom while her children were young and then went to work at the Alamo II Book Store retiring after 20-plus years. She is a member of First United Methodist Church of Normal. Donna loved playing cards and was an original member of the Searle Drive Bridge Club and she loved the annual family Christmas Day “Blitz” tournament card game. She also enjoyed going to her Tuesday and Friday coffee group with her friends. Donna also enjoyed traveling with her husband. They would travel extensively across the United States, traveling abroad and for 21 years wintering in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla.
