BBB reports telephone utility scam

PEORIA – The local Better Business Bureau reports hearing from area businesses targeted in a likely telephone scam about their utilities.

The BBB in Peoria said the caller claims to be from Nicor Gas and states there is an issue with the business’s utility account.

The agency said Nicor Gas confirmed the number is not affiliated with the utility and suspects the calls are part of a scheme. The caller’s number is 815-426-9115.

BBB asks anyone contacted by that caller to reach BBB at 309-688-5124 or [email protected].
