SPRINGFIELD – As hunting season draws near the Illinois Department of Natural Resources wants to connect bow hunters to land owners.
The program is called I-Rap, and it’s the connection point for hunters who have no place to hunt.
Ed Cross with IDNR said that archery hunters who want to qualify for the I Rap program need to apply by the 24th of August.
“We know we have a lot of hunters say they don’t have access to hunting grounds,” Cross explained. “The I-Rap program is a great way to get folks out there and enjoy many hunting opportunities throughout the state.”
In all 120 hunting sites are available. Young hunters receive preference in the lottery when sites are assigned.
