CHAMPAIGN- The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office says it’s arrested a man for the murder of Holly Cassano.

Michael F. A. Henslick, of Mahomet, was picked up Tuesday evening in the Market Place Mall parking lot in Champaign.

News partner WCIA reports Henslick’s address is only a few streets away from Cassano’s former home.

The 22 year old Cassano was found stabbed dozens of times in her home at Candlewood Estates, a mobile home park in Mahomet on November 2,2009.

The sheriff’s office listed Henslick as being held on a $10 million bond.

The investigation of Cassano’s murder lasted almost 9 years with continued testing of DNA evidence and receiving tips. Cassano’s mother Toni regularly worked to keep the case in the public eye.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
