Normal West, Tri-Valley advance in high school football playoffs

Second-round matchups are set in the Illinois High School Association football playoffs.

Tri-Valley 14, Nashville 7

Tri-Valley never trailed to capture a 14-7 Class 2A win at Nashville (8-2). Zander Woodring took a 30-yard touchdown pass from Jake Reeser in the first quarter and Zach Woodring punched in a 2-yard run in the second period for the Viking scores. Nashville scored on the first play of the fourth quarter but could not muster any other additions to the scoreboard. Tri-Valley (6-4) will host Pana next weekend with game time to be determined.

St. Charles North 44, Normal Community 29

Ironmen quarterback Daylen Boddie recorded touchdown runs of 60 and 25 yards while Jake Hileman added a 64-yard score, but Normal Community (8-2) suffered from penalties and turnovers the Class 7A 44-29 loss to St. Charles North (7-3).

Crete-Monee 41, Bloomington 13

After a 6-6 halftime tie, Crete-Monee (7-3) scored three touchdowns in the first four minutes of the third quarter and outscored Bloomington (7-3) 28-7 in that period on the way to a 41-13 victory. Griffin Moore paced Bloomington with 200 yards passing, including seven receptions by Mauliek Johnson for 67 yards and a touchdown. Drew Crooks caught six passes for 117 yards.
