Saturday scoreboard: San Diego State defeats Redbirds

NORMAL – Illinois State men’s basketball scored the first three points of the game but the San Diego State Aztecs quickly surged into the lead and never relinquished it in a 75-65 win on Saturday on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.

San Diego State (5-2) was led by Devin Watson with 23 points as Jeremy Hensley contributed 17 points and Jalen McDaniels recorded 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Phil Fayne and Milik Yarbrough led Illinois State (6-3) with 16 points each while Josh Jefferson pulled in 14 points. Yarbrough led the Redbirds with 13 rebounds.

Illinois State visits University of Illinois-Chicago on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Coverage on the Redbird Sports Network on AM 1230 WJBC, 93.7 Nash Icon and WJBC.com from the UIC Pavilion begins at 6 p.m.
