SPRINGFIELD – Facebook is trying to help small businesses in Springfield get more out of their favorite social media site.

Springfield is one of fifty U.S. cities chosen to host a “Facebook Community Boost.”

“We just want to create economic value for businesses,” Facebook’s Matty de Castro told WJBC News. “If we are doing that, we feel that we will grow organically, and that’s really where we are focused.”

The two-day event started with de Castro leading a panel discussion of local small business-people who discussed how they are using Facebook and Instagram to communicate with customers and target potential customers.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
