NORMAL – A business on Normal’s west side has been the target of an armed robbery for the second time in nine days.

Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner said a tall, thinly-built black man with a handgun made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from Dollar General at 1100 S. Cottage Ave. in Normal.

No one was hurt in the stick-up, which happened during the noon hour on Sunday. The suspect was last seen running west to an apartment complex.

He’s 6′ 4” to 6′ 6” tall, wearing black clothes, including a hoodie, and a colorful scarf across his face.

A knife-wielding robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash at the same Dollar General store December 14.

Anyone with information is asked to call NPD at 309-454-9535 or McLean County Crime Stoppers at 309-828-1111.

The latest Dollar General hold-up is Bloomington-Normal’s fifth armed robbery in nine days. There have been arrests in only one of those cases.

About 6:20 p.m. Friday, a man dressed in black and armed with a knife also made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from JB Hawks Discount Tobacco and Vape at 1100 E. Oakland Ave. Bloomington Police are investigating.

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
