Individual pronounced dead in late night Hopedale fire

HOPEDALE – A rural house fire on Sunday claimed the life of a 56-year old after crews battled flames for hours.

The Hopedale Fire Department responded to a house fire at 8884 Valley Rd. around 1:47 a.m. to a fully engulfed home. After several hours of battling the fire, crews identified an individual located in the home.

Tazewell County Corner Charles Hanley identified 56-year old Lisa M. Lenz dead at the scene around 11 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.

The start of the fire and damage estimate is unknown as the incident remains under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, Office of the State Fire marshal, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
