BLOOMINGTON — William T. Scott, III, 89, of Bloomington, passed away at 11:48 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, March 10th at 2 pm at the Ewing Castle in Bloomington, Il.

Memorials in his honor can be sent to the Bloomington-Normal YMCA Foundation c/o New Building Fund, 602 S. Main St., Bloomington, IL 61701.

William was born July 10, 1929 in Bloomington, the son of William T.  and Geraldine Trenkle Scott, Jr.

Survivors include a brother, Robert D. (Marylou) Scott of Monticello, Il.; a sister, Nancy McLaughlin of Lexington, Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Price.

He was a graduate of University of Illinois, majoring in Business and Finance.

In his retirement, William ‘Bill’ could be found most Saturdays at Asahel Gridley Antiques where he served as a passionate and enthusiastic consultant.    He shared an appreciated knowledge of fine antiques, rugs, and silver.

Bill was a member of the “Y” for greater than 60 years and religiously participated in physical activity every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning. He was a founding member of the YMCA’s Foundation and was a wonderful cheerleader and advocate for a new facility in collaboration with Easterseals and OSF St. Joseph.

He was a beloved brother, uncle, friend, and mentor, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
